Tait has a long history of creating safer, more proactive organizations through critical communications. Today we look at how Tait has evolved, from offering primarily radio based solutions, to our adoption of broadband technologies.
Tait has over 50 years of experience in radio. We’re passionate about the future of critical communications and will do our part to innovate for our customers. Technology is always changing and this excites us because it means better results for our customers. The past year has seen Tait grow from radio centric vendor, to manufacturing and supplying our own broadband and converged solutions. The future is full of many exciting possibilities and we are excited to share them with our customers and partners.
Tait is a homegrown New Zealand business that comes from humble beginnings that start with our founder, Sir Angus Tait. After returning to New Zealand after WWII, he put his experience and intuition into the company that would become Tait Electronics Ltd; that supplied a complete range of mobile radio equipment to over 160 countries. As Tait grew, Sir Angus rejected offers for his company and restructured it as a charitable trust, which now employs 100s of bright minds across the world. Sir Angus was dubbed ‘The giant oak of the New Zealand electronics industry’ and often said that “the best is yet to come”, a term that is used as wind in Tait’s sails to continue innovating and improving to this day.
P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2
Branching off to digital radio, there is P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2. Tait was dedicated to designing and delivering a superior P25 solution that is robust, interoperable and most importantly, secure. P25 is the first choice solution for public safety agencies, there are over 700,000 law enforcement officers in the U.S who utilize P25 solutions for their secure encrypted comms, and interoperability between portable radio, laptops, and mobile devices. Tait developed this suite of P25 portable radios to be packed with a range of safety-enhancing features spanning across 3 series. There have been many iterations of Tait P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2 radios, with the TP9800 Multiband Portable radio being the latest product in the range.
DMR Tier 2 & Tier 3
After decades of experience in analog radio, Tait developed a range of DMR Tier 2 and Tier 3 radios. A digital communications platform that delivers commercial and worker safety benefits for mission critical users. DMR Tier 2 & 3 carry the capacity of both voice and data, Tait DMR gives a powerful combination of flexibility, control, and resiliency of which regular analog and LMR radio lacked the capability. Tait customers have tough jobs and having a reliable comms solution is a critical safety tool to assist in their safety work environment. There have been many generations of Tait DMR radios, with the latest iteration of DMR portable radio being the TP9500 series.
The past year has seen Tait emerge as a player in the broadband communications scene, with the launch of TAIT AXIOM Broadband Solutions. This suite is made up of many components and devices; Workflow Automation, Workforce Applications, TAIT AXIOM Mobile, and TAIT AXIOM Wearable. These devices enable a safer, more productive workforce using an ecosystem of applications and automation combining the best that broadband technology has to offer (for now).
What does the future hold?
