Tait Communications has appointed Emmanuel Stauder to the executive post of Chief Operating Officer (COO). A France-born electrical engineer, Emmanuel has worked for the New Zealand-based critical communications developer for more than 20 years.

Working initially in software engineering, Emmanuel was Project Architect for Tait’s first intelligent base station (the TB8100), which found a ready market and which led on to Tait’s development of digital P25-standard base stations. From leading teams and development projects, Emmanuel was promoted to head the company’s Software Infrastructure Group and later to Software Engineering Manager. In 2017 he became Engineering Manager and then Vice President of Engineering.
He believes the relatively small size of Tait Communications affords its engineers scope to build varied and challenging careers. “Here at Tait, we get the chance to work in many aspects of the business in cross-functional, highly focused teams. I have had a lot of opportunity and I think that in many ways you can define your own career here,” he says.
“Working at Tait means meeting and collaborating with many interesting colleagues, all with similar professional backgrounds but from different countries, cultures and experiences. Each person brings that mix to their work. The people here are very tech-savvy and everyone seems to pick up that can-do attitude which we have here. It is a good recipe for engineering I think.”
A graduate of Toulouose’s ENSEEIHT, Emmanuel worked in Europe for Thales and then Nortel Networks before moving to Tait Communications’ international engineering and manufacturing base in Christchurch, New Zealand.
A confessed market-focused leader, Emmanuel describes his career as simply, “applying technology to make money. It can be challenging but also very rewarding, especially when the outcome is successful. Our customers look to Tait to help them migrate to new technologies but to also maintain those traditional Tait standards of ruggedness and reliability. It is a very interesting time to be working in this area of communications.”
